Modernizing Audible's Platform Experience

Audible was entering a critical inflection point. Member sentiment described the app as stale and stagnant, discovery felt constrained, and Audible Originals, a key differentiator, accounted for just 10% of listening time.

At the same time, large-scale UX updates were historically slow, with features taking six to nine months to ship due to organizational silos and competing priorities.

I co-led the definition of a product experience North Star to reposition Audible as a premium, personalized media platform, then built a cross-functional operating model and experimentation roadmap to deliberately test into that vision at speed.

Moving Fast & Making It Real

In partnership with Product leadership, we established a clear ambition for the platform. Audible needed to present itself as a premium media experience, elevate first-party Originals without eroding member trust, improve clarity in personalization and discovery, modernize the visual language across native surfaces, and create a foundation that could support future business model expansion. Rather than attempt a sweeping redesign, we sequenced high-impact experiments to validate each pillar of that direction before scaling.

These gains were achieved through a series of lightweight multivariate testing and staged rollout aligned to the North Star vision over a single quarter.

Translated high-level experience principles into testable hypotheses across App Home, product detail pages, and discovery modules. Paired qualitative research with in-production multivariate testing to validate direction before committing to full system overhaul.

Redesigned the App Home experience to elevate Originals and modernize presentation while preserving personalization clarity. Rather than pursue a full component rebuild with a projected 22-week timeline, I led a reduced-scope experimentation path that brought validated updates to market in eight weeks.

Partnered with Product and Engineering leadership to launch Audible Tech's first fully dedicated cross-functional squad. Established singular roadmap ownership, standardized ceremonies, and tighter collaboration loops.
